Cedar Rapids Family Medicine Residency

Obstetrical and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Training

All residents receive comprehensive education and ample experience in obstetrics, enough to ensure that all graduates will be able to confidently provide prenatal and obstetrical care to patients. Residents also have the opportunity to first-assist at C-sections.

Point of care ultrasound (POCUS) is a new addition to our curriculum! Our faculty have additional training with many different ultrasound techniques and are excited to bring this experience to benefit our patients and residents.

Residents interested in exposure to colonoscopies may choose to spend time in nearby Vinton, Iowa, with Dr. Brian Meeker, a family physician who performs colonoscopies. There, under Dr. Meeker’s supervision, residents have the opportunity to learn how to do colonoscopies.
