Dr. Hoenig is originally from Iowa City, Iowa, and received her doctor of pharmacy from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.

After receiving her degree, she completed a specialized pharmacy residency in Primary Care at the William S. Middleton Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Her areas of interest include cardiovascular risk assessment, with emphasis in lipid and diabetes management, as well as the treatment of osteoporosis. Dr. Hoenig joined the Cedar Rapids Family Medicine Residency faculty in 2005. She is married to Wyatt, and they are expecting their first child in September.
