Dr. Khanal was born and grew up in a beautiful mountainous country, Nepal. His academic achievements earned him a full government scholarship to pursue his medical school studies in Nepal. Upon graduation he moved to Kathmandu (the capital city) for a one-year internship and developed wide clinical experience with a diverse patient population.
His work experience as a medical officer in the Department of General Surgery and Emergency Medicine in his medical school, as well as in the Department of Medical Oncology/Hemato-Oncology at B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital helped to enhance his broad clinical knowledge. He has more than one year of hands-on U.S. clinical experience at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City; University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas; and Maimonides Medial Center, New York City. He also worked as an Urdu interpreter for Urdu speaking patients at Maimonides Medical Center. Before joining CRMEF, he was involved in the care of developmentally disabled adults as a direct support professional at the Center for Family Support, Manhattan.
Dr. Khanal enjoys the diversity of the patients' ages, diagnoses, close physician-patient relationships, and continuity of care at this program. His clinical interests include sports medicine, inpatient medicine, and performing clinical procedures. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his family and friends, swimming, bicycling, traveling, and playing volleyball. |  |
