Dr. Lange grew up on the family farm in Bluffton, Iowa, and later attended high school in Ogilvie, Minnesota. She picked up an honors BA in biology, with a minor in chemistry, at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, and spent the year after graduation in Denver, working at a clinic for the homeless.

Katie later completed medical school at the University of Iowa. She is engaged to Alirio, who is a police officer in Iowa City, and together they are the parents of a daughter, Esme. The family also includes a bulldog-cross, Rosie.

Dr. Lange's professional interests include preventive medicine, and, more importantly, learning from her patients. She hopes to practice full-spectrum family medicine, preferably in a rural area.

Katie loves to cook, by choice, vegetarian. She enjoys snorkeling, wandering in the woods and wading in any available creek. Spanish remains a work-in-progress. Sea shells always bring a smile.
