Dylan Streb was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He studied Spanish at Michigan State University in East Lansing, before serving for a year as a medical interpreter with Americorps back in Grand Rapids. He returned to East Lansing to attend MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine before making the journey to Cedar Rapids.

Dylan is joined in Iowa by his wife, Elizabeth, who is teaching Spanish at Prairie High School nearby. Together they enjoy bike riding, backpacking, camping, and river tubing. Their cat, Leia, does not enjoy participating in anything other than the occasional excursion to the balcony.
