Kristen A. Steidl, MD
University College Dublin School of Medicine and Medical Science
Dr. Steidl was born and raised in Winnipeg, Canada, where her parents and younger brother still reside. After completing her degree in biochemistry at the University of Winnipeg, and prior to matriculating in medical school, she spent 3 months volunteering in Cape Town, South Africa. There, she worked in a shelter for abused and abandoned children, an eye-opening and life-changing experience for her. Subsequently, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Manitoba, leaving there only to grace the halls of University College Dublin (UCD) School of Medicine and Medical Science, in Dublin, Ireland. While in medical school, she took full advantage of living abroad and visited several new countries, travel being a favorite pastime of hers.
When not caring for patients, Kristen loves playing sports, especially volleyball, and being outdoors. (She played college volleyball while at the University of Winnipeg, but now settles for competing with our fledgling intramural sand volleyball team here in Cedar Rapids!) She also enjoys reading, so when she's not working in the hospital or studying medicine, you'll find her nose in a good book, reading for fun!
